HONIARA (SIBC) — The University of Papua New Guinea Open Campus in Honiara, which is gaining popularity among Solomon Islanders seeking further education, will launch its programs today.
The director of the UPNG Open Campus, Hugo Kop, said they are honored to have the visiting PNG Prime Minister Michael Somare and his Solomon Islands counterpart, Dr. Derek Sikua, to officiate at the opening ceremony.
Kop said the vice chancellor of UPNG and the vice chancellor of the University of Technology, with their senior staff members, are in the country for the opening.
He said UPNG will present certificates of achievement and a certificate of alumni to all Solomon Islanders who graduated from the university since 1971.
Kop said the University of Technology will present graduation enactment certificates to students who graduated since 1971.
He said more than 30 former students who have graduated from both universities will join the procession to receive their graduate enactment and recognition certificates.
