COLONIA, Yap (Yap State Government) — In a letter to Yap Gov. Sebastian Anefal, FSM President Manny Mori informed of an upcoming meeting in Pohnpei of the Micronesian Youth Service Network.
The meeting, which is to be co-hosted by the Secretariat of the Pacific Community and the FSM national government, is scheduled to take place sometime in mid-April 2010.
The meeting will bring together youth from the larger Micronesian region and enable exchange of information in support of youth initiatives.
More importantly it will enable the young people of the FSM to be part of mainstream discussions and future planning of youth programs, Mori said.
The MYSN was formed to promote and foster civil rights and well being of all youth across Micronesian islands.
Founded in 1990 by youth service providers, MYSN is a network of government and NGOs, and civil society groups working together to address variety of youth related issues.
The Yap Department of Youth and Civic Affairs has been tasked by Anefal to spearhead the state coordination of the meeting.
