PRIOR to the federal indictment of former Lt. Governor Timothy Villagomez, we asked him several times to resign from the second highest office in our homeland, instead he ignored the request and carried on as if nothing ever happened.
Why did we ask?
We believe that any public official being charged with a crime both locally and federally, should immediately take administrative leave until one’s innocence is proven beyond a reasonable doubt.
His lawyer, Mr. David Lujan, a “Johnny Cochran” wannabe, wants the federal judge, Mr. Alex Munson to grant probation for his client.
We wonder what state of mind these individuals are in?
First, they mocked and accused Judge Munson of being bias in his judgments.
Second, they objected and questioned the integrity of the jury.
Third, they used chewing gum as another form of excuse in hopes to derail the entire trial.
Fourth, they objected and also challenged the integrity of the Public Auditor’s Office, the FBI and the U.S. Attorney’s Office pre-sentence investigative reports.
Fifth, admitting and recognizing that the four other counts occurred or happened in 2007 is an admission of guilt but now Mr. Lujan is blatantly using the “statute of limitation” as an excuse.
All the arrogance, ignorance and accusations towards a federal judge, jury, and investigative agencies, we ask what might the answer be?
The most important issue that any of these defendants and their lawyers forgot and completely ignored is that the entire consumers or the people of the Commonwealth were BILKED, disrespected and made a mockery of by individuals entrusted in public office regardless of the amount taken
In our view, if you can’t do the time, then don’t do the crime and expect leniency thereafter.
