KOROR (Palau Horizon) – The Palau Environmental Quality Protection Board convened on April 7th and 15th and again on May 01st, 2009, established quorums and took actions on the following applications:
Six (6) residential permits were considered from the following individuals:
• PEA-075-09, Ms. Florencia Ngirachelbaed, Meyuns, Koror State
• PEA-087-09, Ms. Mari Kishigawa, Meyuns, Koror State
• PEA-091-09, Mr. Toribiong Masang, Ngerkesoaol, Koror State
• PEA-093-09, Mr. Jack Debelbot, Ngermid, Koror State
• PEA-098-09, Mr. Laurentino Ulechong, Choll, Ngaraard State
• PEA-099-09, Mr. Robert Becheserrak, Ngetkib, Airai State
Twelve (12) other permits were issued to the following individuals/agencies/businesses.
• PEA-172-07, Palau Ocean Resort Inc., involves construction and operation of a 185 room hotel consisting of 9 storey (135 rooms) main hotel building with one basement, 5 buildings (50 rooms) – two storey villas, spa/massage building, bar/snack building, marine shop, hilltop lounge and staff house. This project covers a total area of 38,140.4m2 of land with a total building (footprint) area of 19,717 m2.
• PEA-107-08, CIP/BPW and LU Rent N’ Lease Co., involves concrete-paving an existing damaged 20 ft. wide x 750 ft. long main road in Ukaeb, Melekeok State.
• PEA-061-09, Tilde Eriich & Chiao Tai Scrap Company, CT Scrap Yard was issued a permit to roof the working area in which they will be able to collect, store, process/press and ship these materials to an off-island destination.
• PEA-056-09, Melwert Tmetuchl was issued permitted to develop a nearly flat riverbank area (approximately 31,785 m2) into a milkfish farm at Ngerikiil, Airai State. It would involve drawing of water from the Ngerikiil River into the ponds and discharge back to the river after undergoing treatment in a settling pond and biological filtration.
• PEA-079-09, Koror State Government various road paving and drainage improvement projects
1. Irorou Drainage at Iyebukl, concreting of existing drainage to prevent further erosion and construction of catch basin at Irorou.
2. Dorin Lane Paving at Ngermid, grading, compacting and concrete paving of existing rough road and construction of reinforced concrete culvert, catch basin and open box type drainage.
3. Dolmer’s Lane at Ngerchemai, concrete paving of existing 375 ft. long road and construction of grill-covered water catchments, with a reinforced concrete covered culvert and a 2 ft. wide x 50 ft. long open box type drainage outlet structure
4. Telael Lane at Ngerbeched, grading, compaction and concrete paving of an existing 460 ft. long x 16 ft. wide dirt road and construction of a V-ditch swale, grill-covered drainage and rock-filled outlet structure.
5. Idesiar Lane & Drainage at Ngerbeched, concrete paving of existing road and improvement of an existing drainage.
6. Softball Field Road & Sidewalk at Meyuns, concreting of existing road and covering existing concrete lined drainage to serve as sidewalk at the back of the field.
• PEA-085-09, National Development Bank of Palau (NDBP) and Socio Micronesia, Inc., at Ngetkib, Airai State. The project will involve compaction of a fill area and construction of a foundation for two (2) twenty foot containers.
• PEA-086-09, Koror State Government was issued a permit to construct a 14 ft x 12 ft open structure with roof supports to serve as a ‘Diangel’ at Meyuns, Koror State.
• PEA-090-09, Janice Ngiraswei of Choll, Ngaraard State involves the construction of 10 ft. x 500 ft. access road to her property.
• PEA-094-09, Ministry of Education, PHS Fence at Medalaii, Koror State.
• PEA-095-09, Palau Sea Ventures, Inc., Sam’s Tour Housing and Storage Building at Ngerkebesang, Koror State. This would involve construction of a 40 ft. x 48 ft. container-made housing and storage building for Sam’s Tour staff and equipment.
• PEA-096-09, Ngaremlengui State Government, Ngermeskang Public Market and would involve construction of 24 ft. x 28 ft. market and information center. A compost toilet facility will be constructed at the site.
• PEA-101-09, Belau Modekngei School, Dry Litter Piggery Project, involves the construction and operation of a 26 ft. x 20 ft. piggery structure utilizing dry litter method as proposed by the PCC-CRE program.
