LIFE in the Philippines, a country with a population of 92 million, is one of the busiest places you could ever be.

It is a country with quite a wealth of people who are searching for opportunities to boost themselves and improve their current conditions. I have seen about nine middle-aged and young Americans seeking to be coupled with another person in the Philippines and many of them think that we could do much better than we have done all over the world.
We will be expecting between 20,000 and 50,000 construction workers on Guam.
These are all poor people who wait to be taken advantage of. The vultures who are sitting on the wings waiting to pounce on their prey are absolutely sickening. I say we do not give them the chance.
If you think that enforcement by the authorities is the answer to this, think again. Any help sought by overseas workers is quickly thwarted because the odds of them ever getting their cases brought to the attention of the proper authorities are quite remote.

-2 #3 tureti 2009-12-08 23:42 Mr. Coffee, you are probably high on CAFFEINE again. What does Ms. Fernandez has to do with the military labor demand for the buildup in Guam and manpower needs from the Philppines? Have you lost your train of thoughts and wandered into an irrelevant subject? Mussolini, Chavez, dictatorship and governor Fitial???

0 #2 captain 2009-12-08 03:50 One of the biggest problems in the Phil. is the \"export\" of their people. On the whole the ones that are left at home are non skilled and lack any training. (not much unlike the NMI) There is a \"brain\" drain, at the present there is almost daily arrests of \"illegal recruiters\". There are many, many people that are detained at the airport in their attempt to depart to and overseas destination after paying exorbitance fees to a \"recruiter\" It is Illegal to be paying any kind of fees for a US type of work visa. The worker has to go through the OFW organization in the Phil. I travel back and forth and have things going on there. I am approached on an almost daily basis when ever I am there i am approached for jobs. IT DON\'T WORK THAT WAY. Anybody looking for a job in Guam Go to your OFW organizations. There will be massive layoffs of OFW workers in Dubai this year. You need a US Visa issued in Manila to work in Guam. Also CNMI is closed at this moment for outside workers.

+2 #1 MrCoffee 2009-12-07 17:21 Carmen Fernandez is a power player who does whatever is in her best interest… she and most NMC admin are beholden to Fitial.

If you\'ve ever worked in Communist countries with an organized apparatus, you know a dictator when you see one.

Trust me, all the Feds and thinking people know it, Fitial is up there with Fidel, Franco, Chavez, Mussolini, (and I won\'t make the Germanic leap) and bonne chance to the greenshirts when you pounce on me for this… you know in your hearts if you said anything against him, you\'d be out of your job like this Prof.
